Shear Bliss Pet Salon: all-breed dog grooming, scissored to the breed standard in Waterloo.

Sarah Bebee grew up grooming show dogs. With Melissa Herold she has run this salon since October 2007: bathing, hand-scissored trims and spa coats, booked by phone, Monday to Thursday.

Every breed, to its own standard

Our groomers know correct breed trims and keep up with continuing education, so a Yorkie leaves looking like a Yorkie and a poodle like a poodle.

Charlie · Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

“They obviously have had experience with the breed because our Charlie had never looked better! The staff were all friendly and professional, and the price was significantly lower than the mobile groomers we had used. We will definitely be back.”

“We've been taking our Yorkie to Shear Bliss for more than a decade now and highly recommend them. Our dog is always excited to go see the girls which tells us they are very good to her during her visits.”

A large double coat

“They do a great job with both dogs and are VERY fast!!! My large double coated dog is in and out in 2 hours with a wash and hair cut. At PetSmart he would be there for at least 4 hours.”

“Awesome they take time and patience with my furbabys!!”

The salon’s house rules

You wait in reception while your dog is groomed: unexpected sights and sounds distract a dog while the groomers work with precision tools.

Read every salon policy
  1. Vaccination records first

State law requires up-to-date Rabies, Distemper and Parvovirus records on file before the appointment. Email them to shearblisspet@aol.com or send a photo on Facebook Messenger.

  2. Plan on 2 to 3 hours

That is a standard appointment. Tell the salon when you book if you need to drop off more than 15 minutes early or stay longer, and pick up within 30 minutes of the call.

  3. A 15-minute grace period

More than 15 minutes late means rescheduling. Running behind? Phone calls are the only accepted way to reach the salon: (319) 235-9851.

  4. 24 hours to reschedule

Give at least a day's notice. Repeated late cancellations or missed visits mean a service fee before the next booking.
