Salon policies

Shear Bliss Pet Salon prides itself on its service. To give every client the safest and most enjoyable visit possible, the salon asks you to read the policies below before your dog’s first appointment.

Arriving

Getting your dog in the door

Records, timing and notice, so every guest on the day's list gets a calm appointment.

  1. Wait in reception

To keep the room safe, calm and relaxing for every furry guest, clients stay in the reception area on arrival. Unexpected sights and sounds distract a dog while the groomers work with precision tools, and the dog's safety and comfort come first.

  2. Vaccination records on file

State law requires up-to-date Rabies, Distemper and Parvovirus vaccination records on file before the appointment. The salon strictly enforces this without exception. Send the records ahead by email to shearblisspet@aol.com, or send a photo on Facebook Messenger.

  3. A strict 15-minute grace period

Out of respect for every scheduled guest, arriving more than 15 minutes late means rescheduling the appointment. Phone calls are the only accepted method of contact, so if you are running late, call 319-235-9851.

  4. 24 hours to reschedule

The salon asks for a minimum of 24 hours' advance notice to reschedule so every valued client can be accommodated. Repeated late cancellations or missed visits require a service fee before the next appointment is scheduled.

During the groom

How long a visit runs

Most dogs spend a few hours on the table. Tell the salon at booking if your day needs something different.

  1. Two to three hours

Most appointments take 2 to 3 hours of dedicated care.

  2. Early drop-off or a longer stay

If you need to drop off more than 15 minutes early, or need your dog to stay a bit longer, say so when you book so the salon can fit your schedule.

  3. Pick up within 30 minutes

For a calm room and a fresh experience for the next dog, the salon asks that pets be picked up within 30 minutes of completion.

Coat and health

Fleas, mats and the dog's wellbeing

Two situations change the visit. Both exist to protect your dog and the others in the salon.

  1. Fleas mean a flea-treatment bath

To keep the salon clean, comfortable and pest-free, any dog found to have fleas automatically receives a specialized flea-treatment bath. It protects your dog's health and the other visitors, and the additional charge is added to your visit.

  2. Minor to moderate matting

Matting in the coat takes extra time and attention during the groom, and an additional fee applies.

  3. Severe matting is a vet visit

When matting is severe enough to pose a health risk, the salon refers you to a veterinarian so your dog gets the safest care possible.
